Ben joined the firm in 2018 after nearly a decade at a nationally recognized lighting design firm in Michigan. He was named Principal in 2023. Ben views lighting as the final layer of the design process, enhancing the architecture and overall user experience. With a background in technical theatrical lighting, Ben brings a unique blend of creative and technical expertise to the SFIL team. His experience in architectural lighting, combined with a strong interest in lighting controls and software technologies, enables him to transform dated spaces into state-of-the-art environments. Ben is known for his technical insight, collaborative approach, and ability to build lasting client relationships. In 2025, he was honored as one of the international 40 Under 40 lighting designers, a prestigious annual award recognizing 40 outstanding, creative professionals under the age of 40 who are redefining architectural lighting design.
