Mount Holyoke College, Dining Commons

South Hadley, MA

This renovation and expansion creates a new centralized student life and dining commons on campus. The College’s mission was to bring several dining locations together to one space and provide students with a central building for dining, studying, collaboration, and recreation with the goal of encouraging social interaction and meeting all students’ needs. The renovated building was originally the school gymnasium. Customized pendants swag from ropes to the structure gives a nod to the original gym equipment, and the wood ceiling and truss structure are indirectly illuminated to reveal their beauty.
