The renovation of the Clayton University Center revitalizes Lehigh’s first campus building, transforming it into a dynamic student hub while honoring its historic significance. Inside, reimagined spaces for dining, socializing, meetings, and collaboration embody the University’s commitment to engaging and inclusive learning environments. Thoughtfully selected and strategically coordinated fixtures were designed to recede when architectural details take center stage, while others make bold statements, adding energy and interest to the space. Custom fixtures, designed with meticulous detail, personalize the interiors and deliver tailored, functional solutions. The reuse of salvaged fixtures preserves the building’s historical character and pays tribute to Lehigh’s rich traditions. Light levels were tailored to support each space’s function while preserving a warm, collegiate atmosphere. On the exterior, enhanced lighting improves security and accentuates the historic façade, reaffirming the building’s central role on campus. A new firepit with under-bench lighting creates a warm, welcoming space for community gatherings. Illuminated pathways and accessible entrances invite all members of the campus community, re-establishing the building as the vibrant heart of the Lehigh University campus.
